The tracks for these G scale trains are made out of brass or aluminium. Tracks made of brass are more costly when compared to those made with aluminium. In certain cases stainless steel tracks are also utilised. G scale trains are also used in garden railways. It was L.G.B, a company from US that started producing such trains. Price of the G scale train depends on its style, demand and the material used for its construction.

I got a question the other day from someone who is new about his N scale layouts, if anyone can help this guy, please comment below.
N Scale Question
I’ve just started with my model trains in N scale, I’ll be using a Atlas Code 55 track, i’ll have a main line, with a branch and small yards with industrial spurs. I’ll use 5 turnouts. While working on my yard design I am not sure what is require to transition from the turnout to parallel tracks.
At the throat of the yard, I should use turnouts, so should I use ship switches or turnouts when switching is required in the yard area?
What type of curve should I use between the turnout and strieght track?
Maybe a 10 inch radius full or half section,? I don’t know.

When temperatures drop below 32 degrees fahrenheit (0 degree Celsius), we get moisture in the air which in turn the model trains begin to freeze and the plastic becomes brittle.
It is most likely going to be colder at night time when our babies are sleeping and freezing temperatures and damp can lead to condensation freezing on our model trains . The water will expand when frozen, so it will damage your electrics and models.
The opposite effect with high humidity can cause great problems, so keep a watchful eye out on the temperatures, try looking for one in our shop here. Investing in one of these can save alot of time, money and maintenane repairs on your model trains.

The types of small scenes which can be on a model train layout are limited…. Only by your imagination. You could have scenes on model layouts of towns/cities, waterplants, bus stops, roads, schools, shipping docks, mountains, villages, athletics tracks, forests, monorails, etc. the possibilities for your landscape is endless, each unique peice of scenery makes your layout intereting.

model train layouts
A great way to start adding interest after you build your track is make some street scenes, with people, cars, garbage trucks, bikes, lampposts, electricity cables, and the list could go on, these little details can all add interest to a street scene on a model railroad layout.

Other great additions to add to your model layouts is railroad stations, with passengers, maybe a little car park, luggage, ticket offices, little foot bridges and more, these are just a few small ideas which come into my head whild writing this post, i would love it if some of you could comment sharing some of your ideas..

The most Basic model train layout design is a very simple oval shape which fits perfectly on a piece of 4×6 plywood, with limited scenery, in terms of trees, stations, and people etc. This would be the most unimaginative layout, and most people would opt for something a little more complex and fun. This kind of design is very unrealistic in the real train world, and as we try to make them look as real as we can make our trains this would be taking one step back in the model train world.

There are a few other layouts we could choose such as the point to point and the out and home layout which in a nutshell is a modified layout to the one we just mentioned.
The point to point model train layouts emulates that real trains are consistently in motion and moving from point to point. The point to point is based on the fact that a railroad begins in one location and ends in another further down the track, stopping at different stations on the way.
Terminals are included as part of the model railway system to turn around the model trains. However, the main line goes from point-to-point.
This kind of model train layout reflect real trains and railroads, and making it look even more realistic by adding some scenery which would fit the size of the layout well. Some smaller Model trains cannot simulate this effect as most scenery is one standard size.
The out and home model train layout might be a more suitable option for smaller layouts, since it only has one terminal. The train basically leave the start terminal, then will go right the way around all the scenery and layouts and after will arrive back at its original location.
The real challenge of laying out your model railroad is the creative use of scenery to make it seem more realistic. Ocne you master this, you will be able to accomplish a model railroad layout that it is both pleasing to you and others.
